1000 Whispers From Our Future debuted at Audium Theater as part of
Pat Mesiti-Miller’s 2025-26 Artist Residency
1000 Whispers From Our Future is a multi-sensory immersive art experience from Pat Mesiti-Miller.
The show centers around a multi-channel sound and song performance composed for upwards of 176 speakers. This spatial sound work expands our conventional understandings of sound in space, pulling from the visceral sounds of concrete before launching into ethereal ambient works that dissolve our perceived boundaries of reality.
A collection of whispers, recorded during community visioning events, augment the composition with elusive and intimate experimentation. The soft callings of a future unseen blend and expand to weave the imagined threads of a new world into a collective dream sonified.
The ears hear as the body listens through a study in sub-frequency composition for somatic healing that grounds the performance. Audience members are held during an extended “Bass Bath” that provides a bed of comfort, calm, and release.
The show is paired with an art exhibit and installation that presents painting, sculpture, and visual projections reflecting the arc of the composition in physical form.
